She is a Sharon Woodrum is the owner of Personable Pets, Inc. Dog Training in Louisburg, Kansas.  She is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT), Vice President of MiCART (Miami County Animal Response Team), founder of MiamiCountyLostDogs.com and co-sponsor of the Annual Miami County Low Cost Spay and Neuter Day.

She became a professional dog behavior counselor for one reason – to help families live with their canine partners. By ‘Focusing on the Family dog’, she is able to deliver training plans and guidance that is effective in a families everyday interactions with their canine family member.

Sharon takes a common sense approach to training. Although her curriculums are designed to help families train their dogs – she spends the majority of her time training the family so they better understand why their dogs do what they do. This way, families won’t inadvertently train inappropriate behaviors and they will be prepared to address new issues that may develop in the future. And since most families want to take their pets out and about, she has expanded her class offerings to include training sessions in public areas. Her goal is to help families not only share their homes with their dogs but to share their lives with their dogs!

Sharon is committed to on-going education and routinely attends training seminars and conferences, including the Annual Association of Pet Dog Trainers Educational Conference, to stay abreast of the latest canine behavior studies and training innovations.  Conference attendance also provides her access to the latest research by leading  training and behavior experts such as Dr. Ian Dunbar, veterinarian and animal behaviorist and Patricia McConnell, Ph.D., a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist.

Sharon is also passionate about dog safety – not just for dog owners but for the general public that comes into contact with dogs on a daily basis.  With this in mind, she provides Dog 101 Safety presentations and seminars tailored to meet the needs of a variety of industries and individuals.

Sharon is dedicated to community service. From volunteering her time for child/dog safety discussions to being a key speaker for the Johnson County Community College Pet Professions summer program. She founded and continues to sponsor MiamiCountyLostDog.com. A website dedicated to reuniting local lost pets and their owners. She also routinely fosters dogs for local rescues, including Mastiff Hope and Olives Hope Pet Rescue, allowing for practical hands-on training experience with a variety of different breeds. This also allows her to continually deal with common canine issues such as, housetraining, shyness, separation anxiety, hearing impairments, and fearfulness.

Although Sharon’s official title is Certified Pet Dog Trainer – her passion is people training. And her goal is to create a dog friendly public by helping families train their dogs, providing dog behavior education to non-dog owners and teaching kids and their parents’ basic dog safety skills.
